Our guesthouse is located in a hillside of Maple Rock (Javorova Skala) 723m. Green tourist signs will take you to the top of the hill where you can visit a historically valuable village Ounuz sustaining several beautiful ancient buildings. You can use the seat lift as a shortcut. Many cycle tracks are well marked throughout the wide surroundings, including long tracks suitable for all day trips and enthusiasts as well as shorter ones for small trips and children. You can use the seat lift to take you up the hill with your bike too. Not far from the house is a place called Cunkov which is famous for a horse and buffalo breeding. Here at the farm is the opportunity to arrange your ride. On your way you will see a natural phenomenon Devil’s Onus cte se to OUNUZ!!!! – tak tady odtud to jmeno asi je (Čertovo břemeno). Don’t forget to visit the local restaurant U Bizona. Within a stone's cast is an 18 hole golf course at Alenina Lhota. For those interested in castles and ruins there is an old fortress Borotin – nice and dilapidated building with a water ditch. People of Czech history and literature Mr. Jan Hus and K.H.Macha were both closely connected to this place. Extant and maintained castles to visit are Červený hrádek, Kosova Hora and Vysoký Chlumec nearby Sedlcany (this one from outside only). A stunning castle Orlik placed by one of Czech largest lakes is just 40 kilometres away via small town Milevsko. Take 20 minutes trip by car to a historical town Tabor where you can visit catacombs and town hall tower as well as number of museums and galleries. Take a ride little further and you will come to a village Chynov where Chynovska Cave (Chýnovská jeskyně) is offering you a visit to the underworld. Fishermen should not miss out on our favourite pond in Vrchotice. When you don’t feel like making long trips and fish don’t seem to be interested in your fish-bait, go for a short walk beyond the village to visit a chapel of St. Maria located just behind the small castle of Jetrichovice.
You can relax by Pilsky Pond, in the meadow behind our house or in the woodlands while picking mushrooms. The view down to Czech Meran is outstanding, best from hotel Moninec. If even this is too ‘far’ for you we offer you our cosy terrace, little garden pool and bower with roofed-over fire place |
